A Roman-Irish bath is a bathing facility that combines the traditional elements of Roman bathing culture - warm bathing rooms and steam baths - with hot air baths at a high temperature and low humidity. Since the Irish physician Dr. Barter developed this combination of treatments, the name Roman-Irish bath became established in Germany. The special feature of the Friedrichsbad - in addition to its unique historical ambience - is the perfectly coordinated sequence of dry warm and hot air, mild heat in the steam baths and the thermal water pools at different temperatures. The body is gradually warmed up and then gently cooled down again. This type of treatment activates and regenerates your body in equal measure. After "bathing", you are wrapped in a pre-warmed sheet in the relaxation room - peace and relaxation in its purest form: a feeling of being reborn.

At Friedrichsbad, bathing traditionally takes place without swimwear on five days a week (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri, Sun).

Every Wednesday and Saturday, we have swimwear days - on these days, bathing is exclusively with swimwear.

Due to the strong demand, the Friedrichsbad is used for mixed-sex bathing.

On request and subject to availability, the soap & brush massage can be booked on the bathing days without swimwear at a surcharge of 19.- euro on site.

The soap & brush massage takes place on the following days and times:

  • Mondays: 2.00 pm - 4.00 pm
  • Thursdays: 4.00 pm - 8.00 pm
  • Sundays: 2.00 pm - 6.00 pm

You can book the massage 60 minutes before the desired time at the cash desk in addition to your admission.

Please note that it is not possible to make a reservation in advance.

In the reading room of the Friedrichsbad, a high-quality aromatic tea in various varieties is freely available to you. Water and soft drinks can be purchased at the counter in the Friedrichsbad. Please note that it is not permitted to consume food and drinks you have brought with you!
